GRIC Press Release re Statutory Review of the Lobbying Act 12/02/02

In an appearance today before a House of Commons committee reviewing the federal Lobbying Act, the Government Relations Institute of Canada (GRIC) outlined several recommendations to clarify what it described as the Commissioner of Lobbying’s “muddied and confused” application of the Act.

GRIC Policy Seminar 11/10/25 – Under Review “Fixing the Lobbying Act”

As the government begins its five year statutory review of the Lobbying Act, this open dialogue policy session held on October 25, 2011 framed the debate around the current rules which govern the industry.  Industry, academics and experts focused on issues such as Rule 8 and the 20% rule for in-house lobbyists with the goal of fixing the Act going forward.

Much as some businesses whine about government intrusion, others do pretty well out of it. An index based on the amount of lobbying that American firms do has outperformed the broader market since its creation in 2008; data going back to 1998 show that it has done better over the longer term, too…
