Expert Panel Event: Political Activities & Federal Elections

July 8 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Are you hearing the rumours too? We thought so.

The Government Relations Institute of Canada is pleased to welcome members to an exciting two-part panel discussion on rules and best practices around political activities during a federal election.

PART 1: To kick things off, hear directly from the Commissioner of Lobbying Nancy Bélanger on the topic. The Commissioner’s remarks will be followed by a short policy briefing by her team, who will walk through the guidance to mitigate conflicts of interest resulting from political activities, including touching upon Rules 7-10 of the Lobbyists’ Code of Conduct.

A 15-minute Q&A will follow.

PART 2: Next, join Guy Giorno, Partner at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP, as he covers lobbying law compliance, including third party restrictions around advertising, partisan activities or election surveys that apply before and during federal election campaigns.
Guy will be joined by Megan Lockhart, Senior Director, Digital & Advocacy Strategy with NATIONAL, who will speak to implementing advocacy campaigns during elections under these various rules.

A 15-minute Q&A will follow.
