GRIC Post-Election Virtual Panel Event – Registration Now Closed

Join GRIC for an exciting post-election virtual panel event!

The moderator and panelists (Zain Vellji, the Hon. Wayne Easter, Éric Grenier and Jane Taber – see bios below) will address a range of items stemming from the federal campaign, as well as provide a look ahead to the incoming government. Analysis will be provided from the panelists based on their political, media and polling perspectives. Make sure to bring your questions!

  • Zain Velji brings a decade of experience in political, business, and non-profit communications and marketing, with a specific focus on mobilization and engagement. Velji is also a regular political commentator who appears weekly on CBC radio and television. In addition, Zain serves on the board of the YMCA Calgary, and The Canadian Children’s Book Centre. In 2017, he served as the campaign manager for Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi’s successful election bid.


  • The Hon. Wayne Easter was the Liberal Member of Parliament for Malpeque, PEI from 1993 – 2021. In Ottawa, he served as the Solicitor General of Canada, Parliamentary Secretary for both Fisheries and Agriculture, and was critic of Agriculture, Trade, and Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness while a Member of the opposition. Following the 2015 election, he was elected Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance, and was unanimously acclaimed for the role once again in 2019.
  • Éric Grenier was a senior writer and the CBC’s polls analyst from 2014 – 2021. He was the founder of ThreeHundredEight.com and has written for The Globe and Mail, Huffington Post Canada, The Hill Times, Le Devoir, and L’actualité. In 2021, he created and developed “The Writ,” a new platform for subscribers to access insights and analysis on Canadian elections.
  • Jane Taber is a former political correspondent who spent over 25 years covering Parliament Hill for the Ottawa Citizen, the National Post and The Globe and Mail, including spending three years as the Globe’s Atlantic Bureau Chief. For six years, Jane was also the co-host of CTV’s Question Period in Ottawa. Leaving journalism in 2016, Taber entered the public relations field as vice president of public affairs at NATIONAL Public Relations in Halifax. In 2021, she went on to work as the Director of Communications for former Premier of Nova Scotia Iain Rankin.
