Thursday, January 26 from 5:30-6:30 PM (In-person, hosted at a location in downtown Ottawa)

The GRIC Emerging Professionals Series is designed to support new and young Government Relations professionals in smaller group settings through two-way discussions that allow participants to ask their burning questions of senior leaders and meet peers. As Government Relations professionals much of your work is influenced and informed by political reporting, that’s why on January 26th GRIC will be hosting an in-person session with two journalists from The Globe and Mail. 

Janice Dickson, Reporter

Janice Dickson joined The Globe in 2019 and covers international development and immigration. Most recently, Janice has covered Russia’s war in Ukraine, reporting from Ukraine, Moldova, Slovakia and Turkey. Janice has also reported on Afghan refugees in Pakistan and on Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan. Previously, Janice was a reporter with The Canadian Press and before that she was a parliamentary reporter for iPolitics. She has also co-authored pieces for Newsweek and The Independent. Janice was an Arthur F. Burns fellow in 2021.

Marieke Walsh, Senior Political Reporter

Marieke Walsh is a senior political reporter in The Globe and Mail’s Ottawa bureau. Before joining The Globe, she covered the Ontario legislature for iPolitics and the Nova Scotia legislature for Global News. She started her journalism career on Parliament Hill producing political TV shows for CBC and Global News. Marieke was an Arthur F. Burns Fellow in 2022 and received a National Newspaper Award (Politics) in 2020.
