Join GRIC's 2025-26 Mentorship Program - Applications Now Open!
We are delighted to announce that applications are now open for GRIC’s 2025-26 Mentorship Program. This is one of GRIC’s most impactful professional development initiatives. Each year, the program brings together experienced government relations professionals and emerging practitioners to share knowledge, foster relationships, and strengthen Canada’s GR community.
👩🏫 For Mentors
We invite seasoned professionals, generally with approximately 10 years of experience (though flexibility applies), to give back to the community by becoming GRIC mentors. Mentors are:
- Committed to meeting regularly (once per month) individually. Or, if assigned to more than one mentee, in a group setting.
- Open to sharing their insights, experiences, and networks to help others grow.
- Passionate about supporting the next generation of GR professionals
Your contribution of time and perspective is immensely valuable. We expect that the program offers mentors as much personal and professional value as it does their mentees.
🌱 For Mentees
If you’re eager to learn, grow, and invest in your professional development, we encourage you to apply as a mentee. Mentors are required to be:
- Proactive - takes ownership of scheduling meetings and setting agendas.
- Prepared - comes to discussions with questions and specific goals.
- Collaborative - if paired with other mentees, coordinates and shares responsibilities.
- Committed - prepared to participate in regular meetings with your mentor (once per month)
- Engaged - provides periodic updates to GRIC’s Professional Development Committee on progress and learnings.
Please note: Upon applying, you will be requested to submit a short 200-word statement outlining why you wish to participate and what you hope to achieve from this program. You may wish to prepare this statement ahead of time.
We ask all mentees to recognize that mentors are offering their time generously - your commitment, preparation, and professionalism are essential to a successful experience.
